This article was in my inbox this morning when I checked my email. The article talks about what the Assemblies of God is teaching about the infilling of the Holy Spirit these days. The comments at the end are somewhat disturbing.
I sometimes take for granted being raised in a family/church where receiving the Holy ghost with its accompaning evidence was taught and encouraged. I want to state for the record that this experience in God is life changing!

As a former A/G member who went to college at an A/G school for one year. I can share with you a few things. I was in an A/G church for 17 yrs. who vehemently preached the Baptism, but poo-pooed academics. I still believe in tongues but now am Reformed in Theology. Some of which I attribute to my teachers who went to reformed schools. Pentecostals as a rule downplay theology and doctrine all for the sake of tongues. This is unbiblical. Paul did not do this. Watch your life AND doctrine closely...this sad trend has infested pentecostals and led to the demise of individuals like Benny Hinn, Swaggart, Copeland, Hagin, et al. I would rather have strong expository preaching that drives me to my knees. You might want to listen to John MacArthur, John Piper, R.C. Sproul, and others. The Puritans were the masters of preaching and Spurgeon was the last of them. If only the A/G would get on board. Not all the churches have bailed on this but sadly many have.
Wow, that is sort of sad. I mean, in our church while we don't necessarily preach about the infilling of the Holy Ghost every service, it is preached about, and people experience the Holy Spirit's infilling all the time. We recently had a children's crusaide, and 11 kids and 5 adults were filled with the Holy Ghost for the first time.
On a side note, last Sunday evening, the church was in a spirit of prayer. God was inteveining in all of our lives, and calling us all to prayer. Its amazing when the spirit falls, and the entire church gets entirely silent. Even the babies hush as God ministeres to His body.
